Mirai Ending and Train Station Explained

Mirai ending and train station explained

Why trains matter

Kun loves trains because they are orderly: names, destinations, platforms, tracks. When his home becomes emotionally messy, trains are a language he trusts. The ending uses that language to ask whether he understands his own route inside the family.

The identity crisis

Kun’s problem is not simply that he is lost in a station. He is lost in relation to Mirai. If he defines himself only as the child who lost attention, he remains isolated. If he can name himself as Mirai’s brother, he accepts a bigger identity.

Why the ending works

The ending does not erase Kun’s childishness. It gives him a new anchor. He can still be young, jealous, and imperfect, but he now has language for belonging that includes Mirai rather than pushing her away.
