Episode 2 uses movement to show how fast the mystery is spreading. Tokuoka is trying to meet Yuki, a player connected through Tomonari’s network, but ordinary delays and errands keep interrupting the plan. That mundane pacing makes the supernatural/systemic danger feel more invasive when it hits.
Mai’s research thread is just as important as the Yokohama meeting. By looking into The World’s development history, Fragment, and Harald Hoerwick, she starts to see that the coma incidents are not random glitches. The game has a buried genealogy, and that genealogy points back to people who designed more than a simple entertainment platform.
Yuki’s role gives the OVA a second case file. She is not just “another affected player”; she helps establish that Tomonari’s connections can map the scope of the problem. The trail is social, technical, and geographic all at once.
The episode’s value is connective tissue. It links Mai’s personal trauma to a broader player network, makes Harald a live lead for the investigators, and sets up Helba’s shadowy interference as something the real-world team cannot ignore.
