Yata in .hack//G.U. Returner at PopRot

Spoiler note: this guide discusses Yata as they appear around .hack//G.U. Returner and the wider .hack//G.U. continuity.

Who is Yata?
Yata is the G.U. strategist and system-minded observer connected to the Serpent of Lore and the larger AIDA clean-up effort. In Returner, the character functions less like a brand-new introduction and more like a continuity reward for viewers who already know the .hack//G.U. games or .hack//Roots.

His idol was Ovan for a short while after they met, though he soon began to resent Ovan because AIDA and Aura chose him. Yata is a man who keeps his secrets, and it is almost impossible to tell exac
For PopRot readers, the key point is that Returner leans on already-established game roles: classes, Avatars, G.U. investigators, Twilight Brigade relationships, and Ovan’s long shadow over Haseo’s story.
