Original summary
The Sea Bishop case begins on a merchant ship that drifts into a ghostly sea zone. The closed setting lets Mononoke turn every passenger into evidence: performance, greed, spiritual expertise, and guilt all become part of the haunting.
What happens and why it matters
This chapter belongs to the Sea Bishop case. Instead of treating the spirit as a simple enemy, the episode turns rooms, objects, witness statements, and fear into evidence. The Medicine Seller watches for contradictions, waits until the shape of the haunting becomes legible, and pushes the people around him toward the truth that gives the mononoke power. The ship story expands the format into a drifting closed circle, where travelers bring greed, guilt, and performance into a sea zone already associated with the dead.
