Summary

Hikage’s attention shifts from lottery dreams to the real cost of school life. A field-trip fee makes her consider hiding the burden, until Hinata notices and insists that an older sister should carry that responsibility rather than letting Hikage silently give up.

What happens in this episode

The episode broadens the poverty gag beyond dinner. Hikage looks at lotteries, prices, and field-trip costs with the anxious logic of someone who knows every yen matters. Her teacher’s announcement turns a normal school expense into a crisis, and her attempt to throw away the notice shows how early she has learned to lower expectations. Hinata’s response is flawed but loving: she cannot promise luxury, but she refuses to let Hikage erase her own school experience.
