Sewashi Nobi Character Guide at PopRot

POPROT / ANIME / 2112-NEN DORAEMON TANJOU / CHARACTERS

Spoiler note: This guide discusses Sewashi Nobi’s role in Doraemon’s origin movie and may mention the reason Doraemon becomes the blue, earless robot cat familiar from the main series.

Who is Sewashi Nobi?

Sewashi Nobi is Nobita’s descendant in the 22nd century and the person who sends Doraemon to the past in 2112-nen Doraemon Tanjou. PopRot covers the character through the movie’s main idea: Doraemon is not introduced as perfect future technology, but as someone whose flaws, accidents, and attachments make him more human.

Personality and role in the story

Sewashi Nobi comes across as earnest, concerned about his family line, and willing to trust Doraemon despite his imperfections. Their role matters because the movie condenses a lot of franchise mythology into a short origin story, so every major character either explains where Doraemon comes from or why he chooses Nobita.

Abilities, powers, and strengths

Their notable strengths include access to time-travel technology, knowledge of the Nobi family future, and practical planning. In this story, those strengths are not treated like battle powers; they are tools for family, rescue, time travel, and emotional repair.

Story relevance

Sewashi turns Doraemon’s private origin into a mission: if Doraemon can help Nobita, the future of the Nobi family may change for the better.
