Detailed what-happens recap

Trismegistus turns the investigation into an operation. The characters gather on a dinner boat in Tokyo Bay with enough information to understand that the incidents are not isolated bugs. They are symptoms of The World’s deepest architecture fighting against its own designed endpoint.

Ichiro Sato’s explanation provides the clearest line between the OVA and the main .hack game crisis. Harald’s Fragment project, the goal of producing an Ultimate AI, and Morganna’s self-preserving behavior all become part of the same answer. The coma victims are collateral damage in a system conflict with human consequences.

The episode works because it does not suddenly make the real-world cast into game heroes. Their contribution is coordination, interpretation, and trust in Helba’s risky plan while the game-side climax happens elsewhere. Liminality’s perspective stays distinct to the end: these are people outside the screen trying to keep the screen from hurting more people.
