Original Summary
When Ginei Studios is being torn down, Genya Tachibana tracks down retired actress Chiyoko Fujiwara for a documentary. The key he returns to her opens a stream of memories that move through her childhood, her screen roles, and her lifelong pursuit of a man she met only briefly. The film’s drama comes from the way Chiyoko’s real desire and her fictional performances become almost impossible to separate.
Detailed What-Happens Recap
Genya and Kyouji begin with a conventional interview, but Chiyoko’s recollections quickly become cinematic space. She remembers sheltering a fugitive painter, receiving his key, and trying to return it. As her acting career grows, every role seems to echo that chase: feudal escapes, wartime searches, studio melodrama, and futuristic imagery all replay the same emotional movement.
