Lise is folded into the squadron, but her return feels too convenient for Irisdina and Gretel to accept at face value. Theodor wants to believe he has recovered family, yet he is ordered to watch her for signs of Stasi manipulation. The mission to retake territory near Gdańsk then exposes friction between Eastern and Western forces, especially when Western tactics embarrass the Warsaw Pact side.

What happens in this episode

The episode balances personal suspicion with coalition warfare. The 666th pushes farther than expected, nearly gets caught under friendly artillery, and survives because West German forces cover the retreat. That outcome humiliates Gretel politically while reminding the squadron that ideology does not always match battlefield reality. Lise’s presence remains the unresolved emotional mine under the whole mission.
