Mirai Groups and Factions Guide
The important groups in Mirai are not armies or clubs; they are overlapping family circles. The household, the grandparents, the family dog, and the ancestors all shape Kun’s understanding of belonging.
Kun’s Household
Kun, baby Mirai, their parents, and Yukko form the daily pressure-cooker of the story. The parents are loving but imperfect, which keeps the film honest about the work of raising children.
The Older Generation
Grandparents and great-grandparents turn the film outward. Their presence reminds Kun that his life depends on stories that began long before he was born.
The Future Family
Older Mirai represents the family as it will become. She gives Kun a reason to care about his sister as a person, not just a baby occupying space in the present.
