What the Arc Covers
The opening arc turns a suspicious contest into Shugo and Rena’s doorway into The World. The Kite and BlackRose-inspired avatars look cute and promotional at first, but Aura’s involvement means the event has a deeper purpose.
Why It Matters
This arc establishes Shugo as a reluctant hero, Rena as the emotional driver, and Mireille/Ouka/Hotaru/Sanjuro as the party network that makes the rescue half of the series matter.
