.hack//Roots Shino Incident and Terror of Death Setup

Spoiler note: This guide discusses the late-series turn that shapes Haseo.
The emotional pivot
Shino’s importance in Roots comes from more than romance or party support. She is the person who reaches Haseo before his distrust becomes a wall. When the story takes her away, Haseo’s remaining choices narrow.
How the setup works
The series repeatedly shows Haseo looking for certainty from Ovan, steadiness from Shino, and belonging through the Brigade. The collapse of those supports turns his search outward: he begins hunting the kind of threat he believes stole his future.
Why PopRot treats it as an arc
This is the bridge from ensemble guild drama to the G.U. premise. It is where Roots stops being only about a guild mystery and becomes the prehistory of Haseo’s Terror of Death identity.
