What .hack//G.U. Returner is about
The OVA works like a short epilogue gathering. Ovan asks former allies and connected players to visit the Hidden Forbidden Festival area, where the cast encounters a strange AIDA Chim Chim that does not behave like the hostile AIDA threats from the larger G.U. conflict. Instead of escalating into a boss-fight structure, the episode uses the festival setting to ask whether damaged relationships and even anomalous data can point toward coexistence.
